Deja Vue with a View-Surfing for Up North Real Estate
by Bernice Phillips

When I grew up, I remember J.P. McCarthy talking about the luxurious living at Birchwood Farms. It seemed so expensive at the time, what with my limited income. I also fantasized about the Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain areas. I love skiing Schuss and I had also done the White Pine Stampede cross country ski race a couple of times. In essence, you skied from Schuss to Shanty for the race. I really liked the fact that these two resorts were so close together. I could not think of a more perfect place to live.

Twenty some add years have gone by since that time. The family is raised and now what was once a fantasy is now a possibility. I decided to revisit these destinations on the web and see what properties were available and at what cost. Like so many other potential buyers, I turned to the web for my search. It really lets you examine the properties in the leisure of your living room, with slippers on and a cup of coffee by your side.

I came across Birchwood Realty http://birchwoodrealty.com in my search and found out that they still have lots on the Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club for sale. In addition, they have a variety of previously owned homes or can assist you in building a new one. I really liked the cottages at Birchwood Farms and CC. Amenities like the 27 hole golf course, a 24,000 sq.ft. clubhouse, 8 tennis courts, huge pool and in winter and groomed cross country trails really had me thinking. One of Michigan's foremost golf course architects, Jerry Matthews, did the design work on their newest nine holes.

During the past 20 years, Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain have become one. In the past 20 years they have added two golf courses, Arnold Palmer's The Legend and Tom Weiskopf's Cedar River. At Schuss they have added vertical to the Mountain, now making it more exciting then ever. Their real estate site http://www.shantycreekrealestateproperties.com/ is a blast. Horns and piano await you to make your decision to enter the real estate area trifecta of Cedar River Village, Schuss Village or Summit Village The music continues as each of the sites roll out spectacular properties. Buyers have the option of purchasing, homes at the lodge, slope side or golf side at Cedar River. At the more mature Summit, buyers have the opportunity to buy previously owned homes near the action. At Schuss Village, you have the opportunity to purchase one of the new Vista Del Verde. These new condos join the already popular Cortina Lodge and Le Villa Arboreal properties. My surfing allowed me to obtain enough information to think more realistically about someday living in what at one time was a fantasy world. I must admit, I might just go back to the Shanty Creek site just to listen to the lovely music. Cortina Lodge
