LPGA GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK
A Zen Master would inquire "what is really your target?" What is your real target? When you are set up to hit the ball, what is your target or focus of attention? Most people readily admit that it is the ball. Others state that their target is the flag or another intended outcome. But even these players will admit upon questioning that their attention is on the golf ball before they swing, more so then on their target. This then suggests that their target or focus of attention has switched from the flag or other intended outcome back to the ball before they swing.

But when the ball is the end target, that is what you will get, some type of contact with the ball, often times not very well related to the flag or intended outcome. However, if the flag or intended outcome can become and stay the target or center of attention, the intended outcome will happen more often, the ball to the target. Remember, the end desired result is the target, and needs to be the focus of attention, not the ball. So instead of being the ball, be the target.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE LEAD CHARITY RECIPIENT OF 2004 FARMERS CHARITY CLASSIC
The Grand Rapids Jaycees Foundation announced that the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan will be the Lead Charity beneficiary of the 2004 Farmers Charity Classic. The Farmers Charity Classic, a Champions Tour professional golf tournament that donates all tournament proceeds to West Michigan charities, will hold its 19th playing at Egypt Valley Country Club from May 31 through June 6, 2004.

The home improvements funded by the tournament, will enhance guest's level of comfort by providing a comfortable, clean, and stress-free environment for families.

"The Farmers Charity Classic is truly a "God-sent for us during these challenging economic times when all money raised is needed just to keep the lights on and the heat flowing. CARNOUSTIE TO HOST 2007 OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Carnoustie has been chosen to host the Open Championship from 19th to 22nd July 2007.

The Open returned to Carnoustie in 1999 after a break of 24 years. The success of the infrastructure, access arrangements and accommodation put in place to handle the needs of a modern Championship has resulted in the R&A awarding the venue the Open for a seventh time according to David Hill, Championship Secretary of the R&A.

Carnoustie, playing to 7361 yards, has traditionally been regarded as the most difficult of Open venues, a fact that was underlined in 1999 when Paul Lawrie won in testing conditions with a 6 over par score of 290.

There is reference to golf being played at Carnoustie as early as 1527. The first known course at Carnoustie was laid out in the first half of the 19th century and consisted of only 10 holes. Old Tom Morris expanded the course to 18 holes in 1873 and in 1926 James Braid made far-reaching alterations which were the basis for today's championship layout.

Carnoustie first hosted the Open in 1931 and the list of Champions is:
1931 - Tommy Armour 73, 75, 77, 71 296
1937 - Henry Cotton 74, 73, 72, 71 290
1953 - Ben Hogan 73, 71, 70, 68 282
1968 - Gary Player 74, 71, 71, 73 289
1975 - Tom Watson 71, 67, 69, 72 279
1999 - Paul Lawrie 73, 74, 76, 67 290
