MICHIGAN GOLFER TELEVISION
Michigan Golf Show with Jennie McCafferty and Laurie McCann
Last year, the Michigan Golf Show moved into their new digs and the golf world
loved it. There was plenty of space to move around, the parking was less of a
headache and there were bars in the exhibit area. Our host Jennie McCafferty,
had the chance to chat with Laurie McCann about the success of last year's show
and what to expect this year. And to be sure, our video alos highlights many
of the booths and their boothkateers. As the golf show season, begins, you can
watch these shows to whet your appetite. It's like hitting a bucket of balls
before the match begins. Enjoy http://michigangolfer.tv/2007shows/michigangolfshow/index.html
Marquette County Golf with Marc Gilmore, Frank Guastella, Mike Beckman and Peter
Allen. This past fall, we had the opportunity to visit Marquette County and sample some
of their golf inventory, namely, Greywalls and Chocolay Downs. Other courses
that are included in their golf packages are Gentz's Homestead Golf Course, Red
Fox Run and Wawonowin http://www.marquettecountry.org/recreation_golfing.php.
We also recommend the excellent Landmark Inn for lodging http://www.thelandmarkinn.com/
Our reporters for the show are Mike Beckman and Peter Allen and their guests
are Marc Gilmore of the new Greywall GC and Frank Guastella of Red Fox Run. We
also take the viewer for a little tour of Marquette, the Upper Peninsula's largest
city.

GOLF BALLS AND EYE BALLS? WE'RE TAKING THE FIFTH.
If professional football, baseball and basketball capture the highest TV viewership
in the United States, which sport holds the No. 4 spot? It is professional auto
racing, according to the new _Professional Sports Attendance and TV Viewership_
report published by the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA). Adults 18
and older who watched professional auto racing on TV numbered 56.8 million (net),
not far behind the National Basketball Association (NBA), which attracted 60.9
million pairs of eyes.
When it comes to eyes, the National Football League (NFL) is clearly the leader.
Slightly more than 106 million adults viewed an NFL game on TV versus 76.7 million
who viewed a Major League Baseball (MLB) game.Within auto racing, the NASCAR
Cup Series was the most popular, capturing 45.6 million viewers.
PGA golf was a distant fifth, with 37.9 million viewers.

BIGGER IS BETTER
Bigger is better is not entirely the case as noted when Orson Welles outgrew
his capes. However, the folks from the Traverse City CVB continiue to march on
with this thought in mind as they add the major lodging properties in Antrim
County. In a Mike Norton press release, we fine that, "Four Antrim County
lodging properties – including the county’s largest employer, the
500-room Shanty Creek Resort & Club – will join the Traverse City Convention & Visitors
Bureau this year. "We’re very pleased to be able to make this
announcement,” said Bureau
president Brad Van Dommelen. “These are some fine Northern Michigan properties,
including a top ski resort, bringing us a downhill skiing component that we’ve
been lacking for some time."
Along with this lodging coup, the TC folks also picked up some impressive golf
inventory; The Legend, Cedar River, The Summit, Schuss Mountain, Hawk's Ridge
and The Chief.
