MGN ON THE ROAD POWELL, OHIO We ventured into the Buckeye state to check out the new Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest course in Powell. Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club is an 18 hole layout amidst some very nice homes. "It is a straightforward, strategic golf course with a reward for every good shot and ample room to recover for lesser play. Challenge, strategy and redemption, this is what golf is all about and Kinsale is the epitome of the game." Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest The course, which has been allowed to grow in, will have a media day in May and then a Grand Opening for members in mid June. We had the chance to chat with Andrea Kruse, Sales Director for the development and she indicated that sales were brisk. Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest have an amazing track record in developing high end golf/real estate developments. They are the best in the world at it. Brent Kalb is the Golf Professional at Kinsale. Their website is a basically a place holder now, but will launch later this spring as their new course rolls out. http://golfkinsale.com MICHIGAN GOLFER TELEVISION-DOUBLE FEATURE ANGELS CROSSING-A NEW COURSE IN VICKSBURG Tim Hygh chats with owner Jim Thompson and architect W. Bruce Matthews III, about the new Angels Crossing course that will be opening in Vicksburg this year. The course, an economic answer for a community that lost some of their industrial base, is a throwback to how a golf course use to look in the early 20th Century. When you think architectural style, think 1903. http://michigangolfer.tv 1901 Grand Hotel Golf Course (Resort) Mackinac Island. We hope you enjoy our words, and just as importantly our supportive video. RISK AND REWARD:REACHABLE PAR FIVES by John Bebow John Bebow, formerly of the Detroit News and now a reporter for the Chicago Tribune, discusses the risk and rewards of the 3rd hole at The Bear, the 16th at Eagle Crest Resort and a number of other temptations that golfers will find interesting. There have been so many incidents and media tempests surrounding the game that I must jump in and offer my two cents worth. Terry Moore offers another look at his view of the golf life." I never really looked at it from the standpoint that I could go as an individual." The regional will be Thursday through Saturday (May 6-8) at Illinois State's University Golf Course in Normal, Ill. The top eight teams and the top two individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the NCAA Championship May 18-21 in Auburn, Ala. How you line up a golf shot pretty much determines where it will go. Aim and alignment are factors you can control before you swing. Because we rarely hit it "pure" every time, a good pre-shot routine that gets you properly aligned to the target may help you have "superior miss-hits." Begin your pre-shot routine from behind the ball. This is the only way that you can clearly establish the target line using both eyes (binocular vision). Once your brain has the intended message about alignment, you can begin your approach to the golf ball with confidence because this information is now stored in short-term memory. From this point, the procedure is straight forward and can become automatic with repetition. First, place your hands on the handle, keeping the clubface square. Then, aim the square clubface to the target on the line you established from behind the ball. Next, align your body (checking feet, thighs, hips and shoulders) parallel and left of the target line, addressing the golf ball. Last, with confidence, trust your aim and alignment and make your best effort to create the shot. Even if you do not hit it perfectly, it will likely be on line, heading towards the intended targetÑa great miss at the very least! With experience and repetition, this pre-shot routine will become automatic. So remember, left is in fact right! Take time to work on a quality pre-shot routine because if you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.
