RODNEY BUTCHER WINS BAY MILLS OPEN by Marty

Rodney Butcher may have hoisted the championship trophy during Sunday's
final round of the Canadian Tour's Bay Mills Open Players' Championship,
but it was Jon Mills of Oshawa, ON who took home the biggest prize.
The 33-year-old Floridian closed out the 2003 Canadian Tour season with a
2-under 70, good enough for a 54-hole total of 10-under 278. Mills came
in five shots off the pace with his own final-round 70 to finish second,
while Aussie David McKenzie was third at 3-under 285.
In just his fourth event of the year, Butcher took home a cheque for
$37,600 and his first Tour championship trophy. But for Mills, his
$22,560 payday lifted him to $55,321 in earnings, edging out American Rob
Johnson ($54,164) to become the first Canadian to win the Order of Merit
crown since Mike Weir did it in 1997.

MGN ON THE ROAD

Brimley

It was a fantastic week for Judy Mason, Mike Husby and the entire
community of Bay Mills, as the Bay Mills Open was featured on media
all over the world. The appearance of teen queen phenomena, Michelle Wie,
resulted in stories in the New York Times, USA Today as well as coverage
on the Golf Channel. Kudos to all.
Sarnia,Ontario

Usually when we visit with Phil Winch of the Sarnia CVB, we chat about
the great golf they have over there or how Mike Weir has been doing on the
tour. Obviously, he is excited about the impact that Weir is having on
Canadian golf.

However this visit, we spent most of a glorious afternoon with the
Sarnia harbormaster, chasing down Tall Ships coming into port from
Lake Huron and Bay City.
In the news, Oakwood Inn at Grand Bend was featured in Forbes Magazine
and the new Sawmill Creek has been recently sold.

THE BULL AT PINEHURST FARMS (Show starts at noon Saturday, August 30)

This will be the first of two shows on The Bull. In this segment, Jack
Nicklaus discusses the thoughts that went into his firm's course
design. Videographer, Joe Yunkman, captures some of the beauty of the new
course, which is just minutes away from four sensational courses at Kohler.
This whole area will be a hotspot with the PGA Championship being held at
Whistling Straits next year.

It was a glorious day for the Bachmann family, owners of the course.
500 guests were on hand to watch the legendary golfer and architect,
Nicklaus put on a clinic and then play the course.

Jack acknowledged, that he is beginning to have a little more fun with
the architectural side of his life. At 63, some of the magic is gone from
his golf game, but he is relentlessly pushing on to become the most
prolific golf course designer in the world. Tom Bendelow and Donald Ross have
each designed over 300 courses. Nicklaus Design will have about 250 golf
course under their collective belts after the end of this year. With 20-25
openings a year, the record should soon fall.

(Show will be up Saturday afternoon) http://michigangolfer.tv

OSIRUSOFT SHUTS DOWN--BLOCK THE PLANT:
EMAIL WORLD-WIDE TO TAKE LOSTS OF COLLATERAL DAMAGE
Osirusoft, distributor of Spam Prevention Early Warning System (SPEWS)
and several other open-relay block lists, ceased operations this week,
EMail servers that are still using the Osirusoft lists in their anti-spam
tool kits are currently rejecting ALL email. You may have noticed a big
decrease in the amount of email coming in beginning yesterday afternoon.

Dundee Internet Services, our service provider, used several of the
Osirusoft lists as part of their anti-spam strategy. This means two
things:

* First, they are not rejecting any incoming email based on this shutdown.
* Second, we may see a temporary increase in SPAM because this once
valuable resource no longer exists. They expect this to be a temporary
issue as other anti-spam resources come available.

However, there is a catch...even though Dundee Internet is not
rejecting email due to this event, thousands of other ISPs who use
the Osirusoft lists are still unaware that this is happening. This WILL
have an effect on some of your outgoing email. If you send email
to someone whose ISP uses Osirusoft and who has not yet
reconfigured their email servers to stop using Osirusoft lists,
your mail WILL be blocked by that ISP. (In our opinion, depending on
how clueless the ISP is, this may affect email for weeks to come.)

More information about this event can be found at http://Slashdot.org
(News for Nerds).

"MEN ON THE BAG"-NEW BOOK FROM ANN ARBOR MEDIA GROUP

Skip DeWall, former publisher and shareholder at golf publishing giant
Sleeping Bear Press, has launched a new publishing agenda with Ann Arbor
Media Group, which will publish 12 golf titles under the imprint Sports
Media Group, in 2004. The first book will be the story of the Augusta
National caddies entitled Men on the Bag, written by Ward Clayton, Director
of Editorial Services for the PGA Tour.

Men on the Bag reveals a unique side of Augusta National Golf Club, and
the Masters. From Gene Sarazen and Stovepipe, to Carl Jackson and Ben
Crenshaw, the legendary caddies help provide insight into golf's great
champions, and Augusta's elite members. Clayton gets the inside story
on some of the games greatest moments, and of the men who
witnessed them in an intimate way. Meet Cemetery, who was once
left in the morgue for dead, and was given his nickname by President
Eisenhower; Iron Man, Arnold Palmer's caddie who once asked the King
"is we chokin', boss," only to have Arnie finish with a par and two birdies
to win the Masters in 1960; and Pappy, Willie Stokes, who caddied for Henry
Picard, Claude Harmon and Ben Hogan during Masters victories.

Scheduled for release in February 2004, Men on the Bag is a must-read
for anyone who wants to learn about an untold side of golf, or for those
who report it.

NEW PROGRAM LINKS HIGH SCHOOL GOLFERS WITH COLLEGIATE COACHES

http://Scholarshipgolf.com, is a unique
service linking high school golfers with prospective college coaches.
Thanks to advances in technology, ScholarshipGolf.com is able to provide
a golf-specific service to young golfers in order to showcase their
golf swings online with streaming video images.

ScholarshipGolf.com is not designed to replace the one-on-one personal
relationships developed between students and prospective coaches during
the recruiting process, but rather to enhance them.

A Scholarshipgolf.com student displays his or her profile on
Scholarshipgolf.com's website. Each profile includes a player photograph,
biographical information, academic performance, golf scores and stats,
and tournament schedules. With the website's streaming video capabilities,
coaches actually have a chance to watch the junior golfers' swing in action.

GOLF DIGEST'S WHITTEN: THE QUARRY AT GIANTS RIDGE
'HANDS-DOWN FINEST COURSE IN MINNESOTA'

Already hailed as "hands-down the finest course in Minnesota" and
making world-ranked Hazeltine National look "like a cornfield next to it," the
new Quarry at Giants Ridge resort here has exceeded expectations after
only one month in business.

Challenged to outdo his first golf course design at Giants Ridge, Jeffrey D.
Brauer of Arlington, Texas, rose to the occasion, according to national
andlocal course reviewers.

Golf Digest architecure editor Ron Whitten declares in a course review
on GolfDigest.com: "What Jeff has conceived
amidst deep pits and squeezed among high piles is as fine a set of golf
holes as has been produced thus far in the 21st Century... It is already
hands-down the finest course in Minnesota."
