MGN ON THE ROAD

Cleveland-

Cleveland Rocks, or so it goes on the Drew Carey Show. While in town we
visited the waterfront and was amazed at just how cool this town is.
The ball park, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, jazz and drinks on Hornblowers
and an airshow at the downtown airport all provided for a great visit.
There are 45 golf courses in the greater Cleveland area. It really is a nice
golf travel alternative. If you are looking for an upscale resort visit, you
might want to try The Lodge at Sawmill Creek, that is located off highway 2
on your way to Cleveland.

Host Bill Shelton, returns to his Mississippi roots to play some golf
on the Gulf Coast. Join Bill, as he travels with other golf writers, to
explore the treasures of Mississippi Golf.

THE BULL AT PINEHURST FARMS

Jack Nicklaus discusses the thoughts that went into his firm's design
of The Bull.. Videographer, Joe Yunkman, captures some of the beauty of
the new course, which is just minutes away from four sensational courses at
Kohler. This whole area will be a hotspot with the PGA Championship being
held at Whistling Straits next year.

THE BIG BREAK DEBUTS OCTOBER 7 ON THE GOLF CHANNEL

The Big Break, a reality tv show focusing on golf, will debut this
October with Rick Smith as co-host. The 10-week series, is designed
to put 10 serious golfers through a skills test elimination, to where just
one is left standing at the end of the 10 weeks. The Big Break occurs,
when the winning contestant is awarded four entries into a Canadian Golf
tour event during 2004. The series shot at Treetops, is yet another
indication of the promotional firepower that Rick Smith is bringing to golf
at Treetops in particular and the State of Michigan in general.

Of the 10 contestants, Anthony Sorentino of Rochester Hills, is from
Michigan.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK-JEFF SHELMAN, MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE

While there are very few places where a $115 greens fee with a cart is
considered a bargain, but that's what The Bull is in comparison with
its neighbors.

The Blackwolf Run Meadow Valleys (regular price $171 with cart) and
River ($202 with cart) courses are much more expensive. The same is
true of the Irish course ($198 plus caddie tip) and Whistling Straits
($270 plus caddie tip).

"Those courses are four of the best I've ever played," Bachmann said of
the Kohler golf empire. "It's amazing what they did. If they hadn't have
done it, we would've been laughed out of every bank.

"I think good golf can coexist. I look at them as friendly competition. . .
In our parking lot, one-third to half of the plates are from out of state
and probably 75 percent of them say they're playing Kohler tomorrow or
this afternoon or they played there yesterday. I hope they look at us as one
more reason golfers will come back.

Jeff Shelman, Minneapolis Star Tribune
