Surfing Lenawee

When you pull up Lenawee County's homepage, www.visitlenawee.com you will find a terrific photo of a barn patiently waiting for the fall harvest. As you scroll down, you will also note a new link to the inventory of Golf Lenawee and see the rich harvest of golf courses listed there.

You will not find any 100' drops in elevation or sand bunkers that you could hide Lawrence of Arabia's army in or huge water hazards that make golf ball salespeople smile. What you will find is highly affordable golf in pleasant pastoral settings.

There are six courses in the Golf Lenawee package. Raisin Valley offers tight fairways, quite a few encounters with the Raisin River and the TLC of the Kapnick family that has owned it for 22 year. At Devil's Lake you will now find 18 holes, as a new nine opened this year to partner up with the original course that was opened in 1929. Hill's Heart O' the Lakes Golf Course is a real beauty with a lot of undulation. Owner Sandy and Mike Hill have put his winnings into their course and the people of Brooklyn have benefited. The Hill's bought the course in 1985 and brought on Jeff Gorney to design the new nine, which opened in 1992. Greg Hodges of Rustic Glen finally realized his dream, by opening up the second nine of his course this past July. This Saline area course promises to be a new getaway for Ann Arborites. Woodlawn GC, long consideredthe premier course in Lenawee County, is ecstatic over the impact that new coursesuperintendent Mike Suchomma has had on the course. According to Assistant Pro Mike White, people are saying that this Adrian based course is in the best shape ithas ever been in. Wolf Creek GC, a course celebrating its 10th year of operation,finishes off the sixsome. Wolf Creek has enough undulation to it to suggst NorthernMichigan.
